Balatonfenyves has one of the longest coasts of the southern part. The water is shallow, the beach is sandy, with a beautiful wiew to the norther coast. There are countless restaurants, bars, so everyone can find a place to entertain.

The incorporated town with 2200 inhabitants can be approached easily from main road 7 (it crosses the town). We can reach it by train on line Budapest-Nagykanizsa.

After winee-pest at the end of the XIXth century the area was divided into parcels by order of count Imre Széchenyi for wrecked growers from Zala county. Beyond grapewine, saplings were planted also, inter alai scotch and balck pine, and these are very popular nowadays also. So, pine has become symbol of the town, and in 1912 the town was named after these pine trees. On the turn of the century bathing-life has turned to life on this part of the coast also. The number of people who spent holiday here were increased, just as number of the permanent inhabitants. The bathing-assotiation was established in 1932, so new roads, plages, places for relaxations were builted. One year later the town obtained watering-place grade.

Not so far from here we can find nature reservate in Nagyberek, a thermal watering-place in Csisztapuszta, which can be reached by dinkey train. An international horse-field, an airport and a fan-park all together are waiting for everybody who wants to enjoy his or her holiday.
