Pecs Hungary - The main goal and message of ICWiP, supported by the 2010 European Capital of Culture programme, is to establish understanding and dialogue among cultures and demonstrate the power and potentials of thinking together and cooperation. ICWiP is organically associated with the series of events included in the European Capital of Culture programme and its preparatory year that bear the motto of "The Year of Teaching and Learning."
Some 300 young people are expected to attend this year's ICWiP events under the subtitle "edYOUcate" from South America, Africa, Europe and even from the Far East. Visitors will have a chance to study, have fun and learn about Hungary, South Transdanubia and the future European Capital of Culture, Pecs.
Thanks to its diverse and multicultural nature, the International Culture Week in Pécs has by now become one of the most well-known and largest thematic youth festival in Central Europe and the Alps-Adriatic region. ICWiP was awarded the Prize for Excellence in 2005.
In addition to foreign and Hungarian young people coming to our city, residents of Pecs will also have a chance to enjoy the events of the Culture Week, since a large variety of cultural programmes will be offered in the Barbican castle moat for eight days.
